Overview
The twenty-third International Conference on Dublin Core and Metadata Applications (DCMI 2025) will be held at the University of Barcelona, Spain, from October 22 to October 25, 2025, with a theme of "(Meta)data at the Core: Bridging Human Knowledge and AI Innovation." The conference focuses on metadata's crucial role in connecting human knowledge systems with emerging AI technologies and will feature exclusively in-person meetings. Two pre-conference events, the Document Society Conference and the Open Metadata Clinic, will also take place.
Call for Participation
DCMI 2025, the twenty-third International Conference on Dublin Core and Metadata Applications, invites researchers, practitioners, and experts to explore the theme "(Meta)data at the Core: Bridging Human Knowledge and AI Innovation." The conference will be held at the University of Barcelona, Spain, from October 22 to October 25, 2025.
Two important co-located events precede the main conference:
- The Document Society Conference (Sunday, October 19 - Monday, October 20)
- The Open Metadata Clinic (Tuesday, October 21)
DCMI 2025 will feature exclusively in-person meetings.

Submission Guidelines
- At least one author of an accepted submission must physically attend the conference to present the work in person.
- Submissions must be in English.
- All submissions must be made via the Submission System: https://go.dublincore.org/dcmi-2025/submission-portal
- Submissions must be a single Portable Document Format (PDF) along with the document's source (Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx), or LaTeX files in a single compressed zip file (.zip)).
- Authors are required to include their ORCID in their submissions.
- Templates: All submissions must use the official DCPapers template. Templates for Microsoft Word and LaTeX are available at https://github.com/dcmi/dcpapers-templates/releases/latest. An Overleaf template is available at https://go.dublincore.org/dcmi-2025/overleaf-template.
Submission Categories
- Full Papers: 8-10 pages, single-spaced, plus references. Innovative work or overviews.
- Short Papers: 4-5 pages, single-spaced, plus references. Work in progress or project reports.
- Panels: 1-2 page extended abstract with panelists' bios (100-150 words each).
- Workshops: 1-2 pages of descriptions (3-4 hours or 6-8 hours).
- Posters: 2-page extended abstract, single-spaced, plus references.
- Project Reports: 2-page extended abstract, single-spaced, plus references.
- Student Forum: Less than 1500 words plus references. For Master's and Doctoral students. Free registration and award competition.
- Tutorials: 2-3 page proposal including title, summary, target audience, learning outcomes, style, prerequisites, and presenter bios.
- Best Practices: By invitation.
- Talks: By invitation.
